DIY Wooden Blinds

Billy has been doing some investigating on Wooden blinds It would seem that the Egyptians and Chinese cornered the market on these many years ago starting with Bamboo twigs woven together.  We have come a long way since then, and you can now get Wooden, or Timber as they are also referred to, blinds in just about every colour or stain you can think of.

The Blind industry listens to their customers and you can now get wooden blinds as Ready Made blinds and have them resized to fit your windows. How fantastic is that! 

One thing is you need to know is how to measure up for your Wooden venetian blinds.  Lets have a look together at the following video .....

When measuring your windows you need to ensure you have exact window measurements.  This way you can ensure the perfect fit.  In Australia we use metric measurements and need to provide measurements in millimeters.

Wooden or Timber blinds add a warmth and depth to homes unlike any other window covering on the market.  They really do bring the outside in with the blinds becoming just as much of a feature of the room as say that very comfy sofa or bed you have invested in.

	Installing an Inside Mount Wooden/Timber blind will only take you minutes provided you have the correct tools on hand and have measured correctly.  When installing your Wooden/Timber blind, make sure you check the operating system after you have installed the blind - don't try and operate the blind before you have installed it.
	Outside Mount Wooden/Timber blinds are just as easy as Inside Mounted blinds - you just need to be able to centre the blinds and ensure you have the tools you need. I found this video to be really helpful when I was learning how.

Cleaning Wooden/Timber blinds is  really simple.  A warm damp cloth or a feather duster is all you need to maintain them. Also you need to do them regularly if you want to keep them in pristine condition.  If your windows get lots of harsh sun then remember your timber blinds are just like any other piece of timber furniture you have.  Treat them with TLC and it will last you for years.
